The ja.is website was chosen as the best Icelandic website at a recent event hosted by the Icelandic Web Association. Ms. Katrín Júlíusdóttir, Minister of Industry, presented the award at the ceremony, which was held on the premises of the academic innovation centre, “Hugmyndahús háskólanna,”  with awards presented for outstanding sites in ten categories. A total of 100 websites were nominated for awards on this ninth occasion of the Icelandic Web Awards Ceremony.

In its conclusion regarding the ja.is website the jury included the comment that the “website serves its purpose well; it is elegant, simple and well structured. The search engine recognises Icelandic words in all grammatical forms, results are efficient and it is easy to indicate whether a search is being conducted for individuals or businesses. The map search is exemplary, and in truth the website is a revolutionary means of access to information in an Icelandic environment.”
In addition, m.ja.is and skjarinn.is received prizes for best website in their categories.
